FOLLOWING THE TRAIL OF GOLD. Or, BACK TO THE FUTURE
Dana and I are about to embark on a trip of a lifetime. We are going back to the Yukon!
Back story: In another century, what seems to me to be several lifetimes ago a very young Dana and Barry embarked on adventure that would take them to the Yukon Territory. Married for a little over 1 year that adventure would be the beginning of Barry's work career which would span 34 years. Our early adventure in the Yukon Territory would last over 3 years. This one will be much shorter.
I have had the pleasure of visiting the Yukon at least 30 times since we moved to Alberta in 1979. This will be Dana's first visit. We are excited beyond belief to be going back to the land of the midnight sun. It is said that once you have experienced the Yukon, it becomes a part of you. I feel that way and I am sure Dana does too.
We will soon begin our trek north. Currently in Washington State we plan to re-enter Canada on June 14. Our trek will take us north to Prince George; west to Prince Rupert then north on the Alaska State Ferry to Skagway, Alaska. We will enter the Yukon just a bit south of Carcross, Yukon. We will spend 14 days in the Yukon before travelling to Haines, Ak. where we will take the Alaska State Ferry back to Prince Rupert. We will eventually make our way home but that leg of the trip has yet to be planned.
I am planning to blog about our adventure and post photos whenever we have decent Internet connectivity. No guarantee on the number or quality of posts. I hope you enjoy the posts. You can sign up for automatic blog updates if that is easier. I'm not going to forward the blog to anyone unless it is requested. If you have any questions, please comment using the comment section in the blog or send me an email.
